William Michael Hamilton

William Michael Hamilton 1981 – 2018 Bill, 37, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 25, 2018 after cutting Christmas trees with his family in the forest near Horseshoe Bend, Idaho. He was born in Boise on April 10, 1981. Bill was an amazing son, brother, husband and father. He was always first to step up to help others, quietly and without fanfare. He was a natural jokester with a dry sense of humor, often delivering understated zingers at just the right moment. He was involved in sports from a very young age. Some of his happiest childhood hours were spent with his dad in the training rooms of various schools around the city. His was chosen as the “ball boy” for the Boise High School basketball team when he was five. He began playing soccer and baseball at six, playing in the “ketchup and mustard” youth Rec league, and eventually became a member of the Boise High varsity team. Throughout his soccer career, he was known by name by all the refs for his aggressive playing style. During his senior year, he was also the recruited kicker for the football team at Boise High, and scored the winning points at the homecoming game—the only game the team won that season, against their arch-rival, Borah. The next summer, he traveled with the Treasure Valley All-Star football team to play in the Down Under Bowl and other exhibition games in Australia and Hawaii. After he graduated from Boise High in 1999, Bill attended Eastern Washington University and the University of Idaho, and was always proud to be known as a Vandal. He returned to Boise in 2001, and worked in the restaurant business for years as a chef. He met his wife, Dana, while working at Blue Ribbon Artisans Bakery. Bill and Dana surprised their families by getting married at their engagement party on March 3, 2007. After their marriage, Bill returned to school and became a computer aided drafter, and was hired to create CAD drawings by Engineering Consultants, Inc., where he worked for the last six years. But the time he enjoyed most was time spent with his family outdoors, especially camping, hiking, fishing, or picking huckleberries. Many happy hours were spent at his family’s vacation property in Donnelly, Idaho. Raised in a warm and loving home, Bill was dedicated to creating a similar home for Dana and his children. They moved to New Plymouth, Idaho in 2014, where they raised many animals and created their own “hobby” farm. Bill volunteered his time with 4-H, the Saint Alphonsus Foundation, The Boys and Girls Club of Western Treasure Valley and the New Plymouth Rural Fire Department. Even in his death, Bill is serving others through organ donation. Bill is survived by his wife, Dana, and his children, Warren, Paisley, Jamison, Zach, Ashleigh, Sean, and Britnae; by his parents, Kent and Debbie Hamilton, and his sister, Lauren Hamilton; his uncle, Marc Hamilton (wife Sallie), his uncle, Kevin Papineau, and aunt, Jana (husband Mike) Estes and cousins Alex Hamilton (wife Alex), Lizzie Allender, Adam (wife Katelyn) Papineau, and Jared Estes. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Bible Church, 4262 N Eagle Rd, Boise, Idaho 83713.
