Robert Dale Black
November 17th, 1963 - February 7th, 2020
Robert Dale Black, 56, of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, passed on Friday, February 7th, 2020 after battling cancer. He fought until his very last breath and passed peacefully at home with his family. Rob was born November 17th, 1963 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Rex Joy and Dorothy "Jeanne" Black. Rob is the youngest of his 5 siblings: Jim, Ed, Jeanne, Joy and Cindy. Rob attended elementary school in Pocatello, Idaho. His family then moved to Meridian, Idaho where he graduated from Meridian High. After high school, Rob served a faithful mission in Alabama for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Little did Rob know when he returned from his church mission he would fall in the love with the girl next door. Rob and Nancy were married for time and all eternity on February 14th, 1985, in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple. Together they created a life full of adventure with 7 children along the way. Rob was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holding many callings. He had a strong love for his Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ. Rob was outgoing in all he did. He had a true love and care for people whether it was someone he knew for years or had just met. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed sharing that with others in the professions he chose. Hand in hand he and his wife Nancy owned and operated a lodge and whitewater rafting company for 20 years on the Salmon River near Riggins, Idaho. Not only did Rob love whitewater rafting but he also enjoyed working with his hands, building homes, and always looking for the next adventure. Other hobbies included hunting and snow skiing since he was 3 years old. He has since taught each of his grandchildren to ski. Rob is survived by his wife, Nancy Carol Black, and their 7 children, daughter-in-law, and son-in-law. Joshua Robert (Laura) Black, Jessica Carol (Eric) Robertson, Jacob Dean Black, Jared Rex Black, Jaden Samuel Black, Julia Victoria Jean Black and Jason Thomas Black; 6 grandchildren, Issac, Micah, Teven, Bradley, Brielee and Paisley. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15th, 2020 visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 10:45am. The interment will follow at the Melba, Idaho Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Services to be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Emmett, Idaho Stake Center Chapel, 980 W Central Rd, Emmett, ID 83617. In lieu of floral arrangements the family would appreciate contributions to assist with the services.
