Austin Arthur Jenkins

In his early years he was raised in Utah, Florida, and Washington. In 2000, his family moved to Boise, Idaho where he attended Summerwind Elementary. In 2006, his family moved to Spokane, Washington where he attended Cheney Middle and High Schools and graduated with honors in 2012. Austin also attended Eastern Washington University. Austin loved life and loved others. In 2012, Austin served a two-year full-time mission in St. Louis Missouri for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he ministered, taught, and led others to follow Christ. He devoted his time and energy to loving and supporting his family. On December 30, 2015 he married the love of his life, Brittany Jensen of Crawfordsville, Indiana, in the Utah Bountiful Temple. Together they have three beautiful children Chloe (3), Delilah (1), and an unborn child. He attended Brigham Young University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Foundations of Human Development in 2018. Austin worked hard. As a youth, he learned forest management practices on the family farm in Spokane working alongside his dad and with his Grandma, Shirlee Jenkins. He served as a lifeguard at the Spokane Central YMCA for several years. He learned to fix and repair appliances while in college and worked for BYU Auxiliary Maintenance. He trained to become a phlebotomist and a medical scribe and served at the Community Health Association of Spokane (CHAS). He figured out how to pay for his college degrees and had no debt. Austin was a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, 2nd Lieutenant rank and attended initial training in 2019 just prior to starting his studies to become a family physician. Focusing his energies and pursuing learning with persistence, Austin set high goals and standards that he worked hard and methodically achieved. He was passionate about his chosen profession of the medical arts. At the time of his passing, he was in the top 10% of his medical school class at the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine in Meridian, Idaho. Austin was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and attained the rank of Eagle Scout, was a mile swimmer, several time 50-mile backpacker, and completed National Youth Leader Training. He loves the outdoors, especially the water; swimming, sailing, snorkeling, backpacking, camping, fishing, shooting, and was willing to go with anyone that would teach him how to hunt. He also loves a variety of music, sports, and had interests in cars and explosions. Left to mourn his absence and celebrate his wonderful life are his wife, Brittany, his two daughters, Chloe (age 3) and Delilah (age 1), a child on the way; parents Art and Annette Jenkins of Spokane, Washington; a sister Aimee (Mark) Gillespie of Syracuse, Utah; a brother Andrew and sister Abby of Spokane, Washington; his grandparents Ken and Shirlee Jenkins of Stateline, Oregon; David Waldner of Providence, Utah; and Phyllis Tueller of Roy, Utah. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Effie Waldner and Lester Tueller. Austin was joined in death with his sister-in-law Mariah Jensen. A joint public viewing and memorial service with family and close friends are planned for Austin and Mariah on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1985 North Black Cat Road, Meridian, Idaho. Public viewing will be from 3:00 to 4:00 pm with the memorial service for family and close friends following as seating is limited due to COVID-19 precautions. Graveside services for Austin’ will be at the Ammon, Idaho Cemetery on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 3:30 pm. Procession will begin at 2:30 PM from Woods Funeral Home, 963 S.
