Robert "Robb" Carl Johnson
January 26th, 2021
Robert “Robb” Carl Johnson passed away on January 26, 2021 at his home in Boise Idaho, aged 62, of natural causes. He was born to Larman “John” D Johnson and Iva “June” Johnson on August 8, 1958, in Caldwell Idaho, but grew up in Boise with his older brother and sister. Robb moved with his parents to Redding California in 1973. In 1976, he graduated from Central Valley High School, where he enjoyed playing drums in the school jazz band. After high school, Robb began working as a telephone operator in Modesto CA and later attended Heald Technical College in Concord CA. In 1982, he became a Frame Attendant for Pacific Bell in Oakland, working on a team that put PacBell electronic switching online, and later, San Francisco Cellular One online. Robb moved back to Boise in 2001 to be near and assist his aging parents who had returned there. He worked for Syringa Networks, with a team that laid out and tested many miles of fiber optics in Idaho. He later worked for a company in Boise that contracted to Century Link ISP. He retired in 2019. Robb’s coworkers describe him as a natural teacher/trainer and the “kind of guy you went to for help”, always smiling and willing to help at any hour. He also loved to volunteer for night shift switchover jobs, making several colleagues happy. During his lifetime, Robb was the devoted owner of a number of pet cats, who entertained him and kept him company. He was an avid reader, enjoyed trains (especially steam), coding and tinkering with computers, but he especially loved the ocean. When in the bay area, he would often head to the beach after work to watch the sunset, and even after returning to Boise, he tried to get the coast when he could. Robb was an incredibly loving, generous, thoughtful and kind man, who valued family, friends and faith in God. He especially loved his natural and “adopted” nephews and nieces, giving each one a big teddy bear when they were toddlers. He will be missed by so many! Robb is survived by his brother John (Irene) of Nottingham England, his sister Jeannie (Greg) Moody of Star Idaho, nephews Matthew Johnson, Daniel Moody, Michael Johnson, Robert Moody, and nieces Stephanie Johnson and Stacey Johnson, as well as several cousins, many “adopted” adopted family members and even more lifelong friends, including co-workers, Robb was preceded in death by his parents and his niece Kathleen Moody. A celebration of Robb’s life will be held when Covid related restrictions are lessened. If you’d like to be notified contact [email protected] or [email protected].
