Please click link below to view livestream. July 29th, 2022 12:30 p.m. MST https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/2539203800 Rachel Olivia Sacchi was a courageous, resilient and thoughtful fifteen-year-old with a wicked sense of humor. She lived life to the fullest and always paved her own path. Rachel, aka Rachel the Brave, was born July 19, 2006, in Boise, Idaho, and passed away peacefully holding her big sister’s hand at sunset July 12, 2022, in Palo Alto, California. Rachel recently completed ninth grade at East Junior High where she was a member of choir and was presented The Mayors’ Awards to Youth for showing strength of character, compassion and serving her community. She looked forward to attending Beats & Rhythms Heart Camp in August, hoping to be an honorary camp counselor, and was excited to join the Timberline High School choir and drama programs this upcoming school year. She was always up for an adventure and whenever her doctors put limitations on her activities she saw this as a challenge. Rachel’s “Can Do!” attitude always redefined what she was capable of. She loved spending time in the mountains—skiing, sledding, swimming in the lake, and hanging out around the fire with friends and family (and of course, tormenting her dad by stealing the fire stick). No matter how she felt physically Rachel woke every morning with a grateful heart and looked at each day as a fresh start. She loved Melissa McCarthy movies, Broadway musicals, very EXPENSIVE cheese, Dr. Pepper, furry four-legged friends, hanging out with human friends, and the outdoors. Her infectious laugh and smile lit up a room, and her expressive eyes alone could tell a story (or burn down a building). She was a champion of the underdog, passionate about women’s rights, loved deeply and never judged anyone. She was a friend to all who met her. She is survived by her parents, John Sacchi & Susan Paras-Sacchi; human sister and best friend, Katey Sacchi; and canine sister, Emmie Rose. She was preceded in death by her canine sister, Casey, and numerous hamsters and guinea pigs. A viewing will be held 11-12 p.m, July 29, 2022, at Summers Funeral Home in Meridian, Idaho. A chapel service will begin at 12:30 p.m, with graveside dedication to follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. Please join us for a Happy Everything, Rachel! reception that evening from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Boise Depot (2603 West Eastover Terrace, Boise, ID). Bring videos, photos, and fun memories of our kind, authentic, Badassy girl to share! Gyros, snow cones and Dr. Pepper will be served. Rachel dreamed of someday becoming a CVICU nurse at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital. Donations may be made in honor of Rachel to the Rachel Olivia Sacchi Memorial Fund to help continue pediatric cardiac research at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and to provide scholarships for future nursing students.
