Steven James Meade

Steven James Meade April 9, 1962 - January 16, 2023 – Steve was born in Corvallis, Oregon and passed away in Boise, Idaho at age 60 surrounded by family after a 3-year battle with cancer. Steve is survived by his wife Mary Ann “Yano” Meade, their German Shepard Remy, his mother and father, James and Elaine Meade, his brothers J.B. (Lorina) and Sam (Kathy) Meade, a niece Elyse and nephews Ben, Sam, and Jimi. Steve, the oldest of three boys and his parents lived in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Montreal, Canada and Grants Pass, Oregon before settling in the Boise area in 1972. Steve always considered Grants Pass to be “home” due to fact that his family had homesteaded the area in the late 1800’s and a vast majority of relatives resided there. Steve spent many wonderful days as a kid playing at the family home on Cheney Creek Road near Wilderville, Oregon. Steve graduated from Meridian High School in 1980. He went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Navy as a submariner aboard three nuclear submarines: USS Jack; USS Lafayette and the USS Topeka. Steve was honored to say he was a 4.0 sailor throughout his career and was command advanced to Machinist Mate 2nd class while on board the Topeka. After the Navy, Steve went back to school and graduated from the University of Idaho in 2000 with a Juris Doctorate. He practiced family law at Jones, Williams, Fuhrman, Gourley, P.A. Attorneys at Law until the fall of 2022. Steve met Mary Ann ‘Yano’ in 2011 at Old Chicago in Boise while watching the LSU vs Alabama football game. Yano says she was watching Boise State, the longtime rivals of Steve’s beloved Idaho Vandals. The beginning of an ongoing and playful banter between the two. Steve and Yano were married in Maui on February 11, 2013. They loved the beach and often vacationed to tropical destinations with friends and family. Steve greatly loved Yano and believed that she brought symmetry to his life. They spent many happy years together. Steve’s second home was in Atlanta, Idaho where he loved working on the cabin, mushroom picking, riding ATV’s, hunting, and exploring with friends he came to love in the small mining town. He would often remark that he lived in Atlanta and worked in Boise. Steve also dedicated his time to improving the utility infrastructure and served as the president of the Atlanta Water Association for the last 13 years. Steve’s love and skill for fishing came from his dad, Jim. He often talked about their fishing trips to Craig, Alaska. Steve was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, stepdad, ‘Papa’ and friend. His time on earth was taken too early and he will be dearly missed but never forgotten. To honor Steve’s wishes, his ashes will be interned in the Atlanta Cemetery this spring for those who loved him to visit and remember. “The thing of it is”
