Georgia Ellen Laky

Georgia Ellen Laky, 88, of Boise, Idaho passed away on May 17, 2023. Georgia was born November 3, 1934 in Lawton, Michigan to Clifford and Florence Bohannon. Raised in Lawton, she attended Lawton High School and was a cadet in the Kalamazoo Civil Air Patrol. In her senior year she was selected as the Michigan State CAP representative to attend a national cadet program at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Following high school, she married Michael Edward Laky on May 9, 1953 in Lake Worth, Florida. The wife of a U.S. Air Force airman, Georgia spent the early years of their marriage as a homemaker caring for their three young children Michael, JoEllen and Julia. Later she embarked on a career as an executive assistant that included employment with Mercy Medical Center, United First Federal Savings, Boise VA Medical Center, Farmers Home Administration, U.S. Bureau of Land Management and St. Luke’s Medical Center. Georgia retired in 1996 and spent the following years traveling with her husband throughout the U.S. in their travel trailer along with their beloved dogs. She was a talented baker, gardener, and a doting grandmother to her three grandchildren. Georgia was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Michael Edward Laky, her parents Clifford Worth Bohannon and Florence Evelyn Bohannon, her sister Barbara Jean Perkins and her brother Clifford Nelson Bohannon. Georgia is survived by her three children, Michael Joseph Laky (Linda), JoEllen Yribar (Phil), Julia Ann Casey (Gregory), her three grandchildren she adored, Devin Michelle Laky (Chris Dyke), Philip Michael Yribar, Gregory Scott Casey, Jr. (Casey Sullivan), and her sister Sally Lou Krajewski (Robert). A special thank you to Georgia’s dear friend and former neighbor Sandy Guches who was a source of support to her during her final years, Grace Assisted Living and Memory Care and Allcare Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Idaho Humane Society.
