Dana Moreland Dana Anne (Peterson) Moreland was born in April 1937 in Portland, Oregon, to Anton (Tony) and Irene Peterson. Dana was raised in Portland and Salt Lake City, Utah, by her father and stepmother, Margaret Peterson. She enjoyed many summers in Burns, Oregon, and traveling the world with her maternal grandparents. Dana attended the University of Oregon, majoring in Art Education. Soon after graduating, she married Thomas Moreland and they moved with the U.S. Air Force to Florida, Kansas, and Yorkshire, England. They returned to Eugene in 1963 with two children, Kara and Andrea (Andy). Two more children, Laura (Lulu) and Thomas (Tony), were born in Eugene. Dana’s interests included art, photography, knitting for herself and people in-need, and was known as an avid gardener. She was admired for her great wit, humor, and style. Dana was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at the University of Oregon and served as an alumna volunteer in several capacities over the years. She was a member of the Junior League of Eugene, the Assistance League of Eugene, the University of Oregon Alumni Association, and was currently active with the Home Science Organization. Dana is survived by her children, Kara (David) Uhrich of Vancouver, Washington; Andrea McGowan of Killeen, Texas; Lulu (John) McPhee of Darien, Connecticut; and Tony Moreland of Eugene, Oregon; and her brother, Ben (Nai) Peterson of Vancouver, Washington. She has 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 10 nieces and nephews.
