Alba Marie White
February 1st, 1922 - March 1st, 2014
Alba "Marie" (Faught) White, age 92, of Boise, Idaho, died March 1, 2014, surrounded by her family at her home, Spring Creek Assisted Living. Marie was born in South Acworth, New Hampshire, on February 1, 1922, to William S. Faught, Sr. and Alba Maria (Callowhill) Faught. The family came west in 1924 and settled in Boise in 1935. Marie graduated from Boise High School in 1940 and from Boise Junior College in 1942. She married her high school sweetheart, Joseph ("Joe") Wayne White, Jr, in 1944 and they made Boise their home. Marie worked for her father in the hearing aid business until 1967 when she started her career as an accountant. Joe worked for the Idaho Power Company for 40 years. Marie and Joe worked on the Boise High School Class of 1940 reunions until his death in 1991 and then Marie continued on until the 70th reunion in 2010. Marie also helped start the Alumni Association at Boise College in 1967 prior to it becoming the Boise State University Alumni Association. Joe and Marie helped charter the Boise Valley Hi-De-Ho Sports Trailer Club in 1956 and spent many enjoyable years as a travel trailer group and at their favorite spot in Garden Valley on the South Fork of the Payette River. Many trips were taken in their RV and they ultimately ended up wintering in Mesa, Arizona. After Joe's death, Marie continued going to Arizona for several more years to spend the winters. Then the time came to stay home with her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren, and to do some volunteering; first at Ronald McDonald House, then at The Elks Rehabilitation Hospital, Risen Christ Catholic Church, St. Vincent d'Pauls Corpus Christi House and finally, Free Med. In addition to keeping busy volunteering, Marie ended her accounting career a year and half ago where she was the bookkeeper for fourteen years for her grandson's business, Affordable Rain Gutters. She also had an addiction to her genealogy and could be lost for many hours while working on it. Marie was an active spirit; she was always busy and rarely home. Marie was preceded in death by her husband. She leaves her three children, Bette Jo Berryman (Terry Bayless) of Meridian; Joseph W. (Bud) White III (Mary) of Twin Falls and Salt Lake City; and Carol Mulder (Mike Barton) of Boise. Marie also has five grandchildren: Barb Lighthizer (Bob), Mel Elam (Tim), Bob Berryman, Mackenzee Squires (Brian), and Alex Mulder; ten great- grandchildren: Matt, Nick, Brayden, Zack, Dominic, Sierra, Brennan, Dawson, Avalon, and Sawyer. Special family members include: Jim and Lynne Bos, Frank and Lindi Archer, and Ruth Sisk. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Friday, March 7, 2014, at Risen Christ Catholic Church, 11511 West Lake Hazel Road, Boise. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com. The family would like to thank several "special" staff members of Spring Creek Assisted Living; their patience and kindness helped us cope during this difficult time. We especially thank First Choice Hospice Care for the care and dignity they showed Mom, and the understanding and compassion they showed our family. Donations may be made to one of the Boise State University scholarships set up by Marie and her daughter Carol: the Joseph and Marie White Scholarship Fund or the Mulder Partners for Health Scholarship Fund. Contact the BSU Foundation for information.

We Entrusted Alba Marie White's Care To
Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
