My Life Story Mary Fatima daRosa passed away Friday, March 21, at her home, surrounded by her family. Mary was born July 30, 1941 in Faial, Azores, (Portugal). She moved to the United States in 1958, and married Joseph Dutra daRosa on May 28, 1960. One year later, they welcomed a son, Joseph Jr. The family moved to California, where they welcomed a second son, Manuel. Mary then began her career in computer manufacturing at TrinEx, later moving on to Hewlett Packard, from which she retired, as a manager after twenty five years. Mary and Joe enjoyed many activities during their life together. These included bowling, camping trips to Half Moon Bay, watching their two sons participate in sports, and many social activities within the Portuguese community. After moving to Idaho in 1978, Mary became an avid golfer, and an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Meridian (later becoming Holy Apostles Catholic Church). The joys of Mary’s life were her four grandchildren, Matea, Kade, Eva, and Emma. She shared with them her strong faith, her love of life, and her sense of fun. Mary fought a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Her husband, Joseph, devoted himself to her care for many years and was by her side when she left this earth. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Manuel; her son, Manuel; her brother, Anthony; her sister, MaryLou; and her grandson, Kade. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joseph; her son, Joseph Jr. (Julie); granddaughters: Matea, Eva, and Emma daRosa; brothers, Manuel (Rosalinda) daRosa, Joseph daRosa, and Phil daRosa; sisters, Connie (Gary) Tartar, Dena (Joseph) Goulart, Alex Finley, and many special nieces and nephews. A Rosary Service will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Road in Meridian, on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 6:00PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Apostles Catholic Church on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 11:00AM. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian. Remembrance may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local division of the National Alzheimer's Foundation.

We Entrusted Mary daRosa's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
