Ila Rose
July 29th, 1921 - September 2nd, 2014
My Life Story For 93 years; our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and good friend went to heaven September 2, 2014. The significance of a life is not determined by its length, but you mom, at 93, were a truly significant life! But you have gone not. We have heard the hoof beats pounding. It is the chariot of fire and the horsemen of Israel – they have come for you. You are being promoted to that heavenly choir of which you so love, Mom sing a new song. Sing a song for us. Mom's true calling was to be this incredible mother. There are so many moments which we wish you knew…how much you mattered to us. And how much we thank you for being such a wonderful mother. In times of our lives, whether we are near or far, we will always remember that there could never have been a mother more wonderful… than the one you were to us! Born and raised in Rupert, the daughter of Ruth and Leroy Fenton who farmed southwest of Rupert. She graduated from Rupert High School in 1939, and received a Teaching Certificate two years later from Albion State Normal. In 1967, she received a BS degree in education from Idaho State University in Pocatello. Mom fell in love with teaching. She taught one year in Owyhee County, two years in Missouri and 29 years in Minidoka County. In 1942 she married Earl Mayes; they were parents of four children: Gerald (Linda) of Boise and their children: Luke Mayes, Liberty (Dennis) Lauer, Fenton (Christi) Mayes and Josh Mayes; Donald (Elaine) of Rupert and their children: Bradly (Nancy) Mayes, Donnalyn (Mike) Piper; Dean (Tami) of Twin Falls and their children: Ashley (Shane) Harper, Clint Mayes, Dillion Mayes, Abbey Mayes and Allison Mayes; Janeal (Tom) of Waco, TX and their children: Danielle Wetzstein and Mayson (Oreanna) Wetzstein and many loved great-grandchildren. Earl passed away in 1972, soon after retirement, mom married Earl Rose of Heyburn who passed away in 1992. Ila was preceded in death by her two Earl's; her parents, Leroy and Ruth Fenton; her sisters: Josephine (Keith) Mackenzie and Donna (Glenn) Walker; her brothers: Dale (Georgia) Fenton, Virgil (Bonnie) Fenton, and Ronald (Pat) Fenton. She is survived by brothers, James (Donna Rose) Fenton of Burley, Richard (Virginia) Fenton of Salt Lake City and Gary (Myrna) Fenton of North Ogden, UT. As per mom's emphatic request she was cremated. She did not want a service of any kind at this late date. She wanted her ashes to be put alongside her husband Earl Mayes at the Rupert Cemetery. Mother desired to end this message as follows: "What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought since Jesus came into my heart. I have light in my soul which I have sought." "I have ceased from my wandering and going astray since Jesus came in my heart. And my sins, which were many, are all washed away." "I shall go there to dwell in that city. I know since Jesus came into my heart. And I'm happy, so happy as onward I go!"

We Entrusted Ila Rose's Care To
Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
