Drena Javernick
June 27th, 1945 - August 2nd, 2015
My Life Story Drena Ann Javernick, age 70, passed away Sunday August 2nd, 2015 surrounded by family and friends at her home in Boise, Idaho. Drena was born to Elvin and Hazel Gunderson on June 27th, 1945 in San Francisco, CA. She traveled around the world as a child and teenager as her father was in the Navy, until they settled in Boise in 1960. Drena then attended Boise High School and earned her high school diploma. During this time she met the love of her life, Rudy Javernick Jr., where they were soon engaged in 1961 and married in 1963 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Drena was a master of shorthand and typing and worked briefly as a secretary until she decided to stay home to take care of their two daughters, YaJenne Marie, born April 3, 1964 and Necole Ann, born April 8th, 1968. Drena was a dedicated mother, not only to her two children, but also to her four younger siblings whom she helped raise throughout her life until marriage. And even after that to her youngest sister, Marla, who was raised alongside her daughters. Drena was also a wonderful Aunt to Marla's children being there as a huge support to the family by helping raise them as well. Drena's hobbies included mainly swimming and reading, along with a great sense of humor that she passed along to her daughters and grandchildren. She always loved the water, whether it be the ocean, lake, or even the house pool. She always glorified her time spent in Guam and spoke highly of the ocean that brought her so much peace but could even find that at her pool. She taught swimming lessons at her home with her daughter, Necole, for many summers and inspired children of all ages to love and respect the water. She continued to read avidly until the week before she passed with a huge love of romance novels. Drena is survived by her oldest daughter, Yajenne (Oty) Javernick, and her youngest daughter Necole (Bryan Hodges) Javernick-Hodges, her sister Marla (John) Greaves, nephews: Todd Martin (Marla), K.C. Martin (Marla), Zach Greaves (John) and Kyle Greaves (John), grandchildren: Kozmo Javernick-Pender, and Malachi Javernick-Pender, Bayli Javernick-Hodges, Zoey Javernick-Hodges, Joshua Javernick-Hodges, Claire Javernick-Hodges, and also two brothers. In her last year of life she was fortunate to have the compassion and love of her caregiver, Christopher Bradly Beck who loved and cared for her daily and will always be remembered as a blessing to our family. Drena is preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Hazel Gunderson, her husband Rudy Javernick Jr., and her brother Rick Gunderson. A Memorial Mass for Drena will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Cathedral, 775 N. 8th St., Boise. A reception will follow at Sun Ray Café, 1602 N. 13th St., Boise. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home.

We Entrusted Drena Javernick's Care To
Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
