Shirley Grass
March 8th, 1937 - May 16th, 2016
My Life Story Shirley Grass, age 79, of Nampa passed away peacefully on May 16, 2016 in the presence of her daughter and a special friend. Shirley was born March, 8, 1937 in Weiser, Idaho to Dorothy and Charles Real. Shirley graduated from Weiser High School in 1955. Soon after graduation married the love of her life, Earl Grass of Payette, on October 29, 1955, with whom she was married for 48 years, until his passing in 2002. After their marriage they resided in Nampa and were blessed with the first child a son, Bruce, in 1959. In 1961, Earl and Shirley moved to Mountain Home, and in 1962 had their second child a daughter, Joyce. They resided in Mountain Home for 24 years until 1983, when they moved to the family farm in Middleton, Idaho where they resided for 32 years. Shirley recently moved from the family farm to a house in Nampa, which she loved very much. The majority of her life was spent as homemaker in the truest sense of the word. She was a Mother that was very involved in her children’s life. She was actively involved with much of her children’s activities such as, Room Mother, PTA, Boy Scouts, and Campfire Girls. She volunteered in the community with March of Dimes and various fundraisers. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, planting flowers, being a seamstress and avid reader. Her true enjoyment was camping with her family and preparing meals over the campfire. In 1984 she started her career working at Shopko in Nampa for almost 19 years. She enjoyed working at Shopko tremendously and made several lifelong friends. For several years she was a volunteer at the Western Idaho Fair. After Earl passed away, Shirley stayed active with many friends and family. Mom’s favorite and cherished activity was spending time with her two granddaughters, Kaila and Elise who were her pride and joy. She particularly enjoyed gathering with family and friends as well as staying in touch with childhood friends from Weiser. Shirley is survived by her son, Bruce and his wife, Cindi Grass of Seattle, Washington; Joyce and her husband, Kelly Green of Kuna; two granddaughters: Kaila Kazimir of Boise and Elise Grass of Seattle, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the Real family. A special aunt, Lillian Vaughn of Nampa and friends that became like daughters and grandchildren, Michele and Leigh Ann Bramblett of Meridian, and Suzie and her husband, Ben Costa of Meridian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; mother, Dorothy Nettrower; father, Charles Real and brother, Richard Real. Mom your warm smile, sense of humor, and optimistic outlook will truly be missed. You were able to make those around you feel special and loved. The family would like to extend a special thanks and appreciation for Mom’s caregivers over the past few months of her life: Kristen Wright, Sandra Flader, Michelle Bramblett, Suzie Costa, Melissa Costa, Janel Morrison-Luna and First Choice Home Health Hospice. We Entrusted Shirley Grass's Care To
Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
