Elvira Tinney
January 7th, 1937 - June 28th, 2016
My Life Story Elvira Martha Tinney ended her lifelong struggle with pain and disability on June 28, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was joyfully received in the next life by her mother, Anna; father, Hans; and brother, Gerhard. Elvira "Elfi" was born into hardship on January 7, 1937 in Hamburg, Germany. Overcoming the limitations of her body and the ravages of WWII etched in Elfi an unshakable faith in the Lord Jesus Christ of which she bore testimony throughout her life. After serving a full-time LDS mission in Berlin, Elfi made the journey, by herself, and with barely enough, to Salt Lake City Utah where she met and married Nelson Tinney. Elfi was able to raise five children without fully understanding the language or culture because of the immeasurable amount of assistance and love from many friends, neighbors and ward members. Elfi and Nelson moved to Boise, ID in 2006 where they were surprised to be just as warmly welcomed and served by their LDS ward as they had been in Salt Lake. Elfi was one-of-a-kind. She made an indelible impression on everyone in her work and church service; arriving at every appointment on time and ever-ready to get things done with a dauntless spirit and indomitable determination. Elfi loved her children and grandchildren whose visits wouldn’t have been enough had they been 10 times a day. Elvira was the epitome of a loyal friend. Elfi’s regular visits, phone calls and acts of service touched people across all classes wherever she went. No one who knew Elfi can ever forget Elfi. She will be missed sorely and deeply. The pain at her passing is made tolerable by knowing that her pain had become intolerable. A viewing will be held Thursday, July 7 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Accent Funeral Home, 1303 N. Main Street, Meridian. A viewing will also be held from 9:30-10:15 AM followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 8, at the LDS Haven Cove Ward Building, 1560 N. Ten Mile Rd, Meridian. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. A full obituary may be read and remembrances left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.

We Entrusted Elvira Tinney's Care To
Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
