Robert Nelson

My Life Story Robert A. Nelson, 80, of Meridian, passed away Friday December 2, 2016. Bob was born on May 26, 1936 in Tuthill, South Dakota to Oscar and Irene Nelson. After the family moved to Meridian, Bob joined Boy Scout Troop 1, where he cultivated lifelong friendships. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1954. He married the love of his life, Karen Moore, in 1959. To that union were born 4 children: Michael, Rob, Ann Marie and Jennifer. Bob was a well-respected professional land surveyor and photogrammetrist for 50 + years. Bob loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing and hiking as much as possible, especially in the Stanley area. He was a long time member of the Meridian Optimist Club and a coach at the Jr. Rifle Range. He taught Hunters Education for numerous years. He served the community in many capacities. He is survived by his wife, Karen; children: Rob from Cascade; Ann and Kraig Wartman of Kuna; Jennifer Nelson of Boise; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Ross of Meridian; grandchildren, Nicholas Nelson of Meridian, Kayla Wartman and Kameron Wartman of Kuna; and great-grandson Aiden Nelson; sister, Jean Musick of Scappoose, OR; brothers-in-law: James Laidler of Lockport, IL and Kay Moore of Boise; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his son, Michael; his parents, Oscar and Irene; twin sister, Ruth Laidler; and brother-in-law, Clarence Musick. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd. in Meridian where Bob was a long-time member. A Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M. A lunch will be served in the church hall following Mass. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.
