Daniel Berard

My Life Story Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on May 13, 2017 at his home in Meridian, Idaho at age 80 ½. Dan was born on September 1, 1936 to Albert J. and Ann Kodrick Berard in Joliet, Illinois. He attended St. Patrick’s Elementary, Joliet Catholic High school, Joliet Junior College and Lewis University. He served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri from 1959 to 1961. Dan started work at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois in 1962 working in the Accounting Division. He transferred to the EBR II (reactor) division in 1970 and subsequently moved to Idaho Falls with his family in 1975 where he continued his job in the Budget Office. He retired in 1998 after 36 years of service. In 1965 he married Lorna McComb and they had sons, Mike in 1967 and Mark in 1970. Dan supported both boys in their various activities. He coached baseball and soccer and was treasurer of the IF Youth Hockey Program for 12 years. After retirement Dan and Lorna enjoyed spending some of the winter months in Arizona where they made many friends and were able to connect with family who lived there. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, doing 1000 piece puzzles, enjoying time with family and being able to follow his grandsons as they played their various sports. Dan was a member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 51 ½ years, Lorna, and sons: Mike (Kelly), Meridian and Mark (Angela) of Holland, MI; grandchildren: Jake and Timmy of Meridian and Lillian of Holland, MI; sister: Phyllis (James) O’Connell; sister-in-law, Sharon (Tom) Willis; Michelle Bradford Berard and numerous nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Richard and David. Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Len MacMillan at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 19th at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd., Meridian. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Dan’s name to the Meridian Food Bank, 133 W. Broadway Ave, Meridian, ID 83642 or to a charity of your choice. Remembrances may be left on Dan’s web page at www.AccentFuneral.com.
