Ruth Doll
March 12th, 2016
Ruth Doll Ruth Victoria was the cherished only child of Karl and Anna (Roos) Anderson. She was born at home in San Francisco, California on February 20, 1924. She spent her childhood in San Francisco, California and graduated with honors from Balboa High School, class of 1941. While attending Stanford University Law School in 1943 her husband William Creed Lawson was deployed to Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. This began her lifelong love of the Hawaiian Islands and traveling. Their first child, Elaine Victoria was born in 1944. After WWII they relocated back to San Francisco, California, where their son, David was born in 1949. In 1950 her marriage to William Creed ended in divorce. While working as a paralegal in a law firm in San Francisco, California she met and married her second husband, Edward J. Doll. After leaving California they moved many times; Eugene, Portland, and Seattle before settling in Eugene. In 1955, Ruth and a few other professional women in Eugene founded the IOTA BETA Sorority. Through the Sorority she created many loving, meaningful, and lifelong friendships. She was very proud of her daughter, Elaine’s accomplishments in her career with the Department of Defense at the Pentagon. They traveled together extensively for both business and pleasure until Elaine’s retirement in 2005, it was then that they began to travel full time. Together they visited Italy, Spain, Morocco, North Africa, Scandinavia, (including their beloved Sweden) Asia, Cuba, the UK, Belgium and France. The two most important being the Hawaiian Island of Kauai and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico both of which they considered “home away from home”. In Puerto Vallarta both Elaine and Ruth were members of International Friendship Club (IFC) which does charitable work for orphans. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Edward and her beloved daughter and best friend, Elaine. She is survived by her son, David and his wife Laurie, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Her life will be celebrated on March 12, 2016 at 1:30 pm at Wesley United Methodist Church in Eugene. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
