Eric Christopher Schenck passed away unexpectedly due to injuries from a traffic accident while on active duty in South Korea on December 8, 2017. He was born in Nampa, Idaho to Charles and JoAnne Schenck on February 24, 1984. He grew up in Idaho and California, settling in El Dorado County in Northern California at the age of 8 and graduated from El Dorado High School in Placerville in 2002. After graduation he worked at various jobs and attended Consumnes River College part time. He did volunteer work with the Boys and Girls Club and as a Big Brother to underprivileged youth. In the fall of 2009 he joined the US Army taking basic training at Fort Sill, OK, and AIT training to become an Army Medic at Fort Sam Houston, TX. From there he was stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma, WA. In 2012 he was deployed to a tour in Afghanistan as a Senior Line Medic. He deployed to Suwon Air Base in South Korea in January 2017. Eric loved hiking, jogging, and exploring his surroundings, but his greatest love was spending time with his two sons: Hayden and Damian. In passing Eric leaves behind his two sons: Hayden and Damian of Meridian, ID; father, Charles Schenck and wife, Tami, of Fairplay, CA; mother, JoAnne Larson and husband, Ken, of Emmett, ID; sister, Chelsea Thompson and husband, Evan of Reedsport, OR; stepbrother, Chris Denham of Fairplay, CA; grandparents: Charles and Donna Schenck of Nampa, ID; aunts: Trina Westberg and Tammy Chavez of Nampa, ID; aunt, Maureen Luther of Chester, CA; uncle, Anthony Cahill of Renton, WA; uncle, Lester Cahill of Golden, CO; and numerous cousins. A Celebration of Eric’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 12th, at Meridian Friends Church, 1021 W. Pine Ave. in Meridian, ID. Military Honors and burial will follow at 3:00 PM at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise, ID. Remembrances may be left for the family online at www.AccentFuneral.com. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home and Cremation, Meridian.
