Evelyne E. Valenti, age 81, of Boise, formerly of Meridian, passed away September 5, 2012 at a local care center with her husband at her side. After a long, painful illness, her last few days were peaceful. Evelyne was born to Ernst and Martha Windischmann in Usti-nad-Labem, Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. Following the end of WW2 her family was deported to West Germany where she met and married the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Humbert M. (Val) Valenti, an American Army dental officer. After completing his tour of duty, they moved to the United States eventually settling in Meridian, Idaho where Val established his dental practice and they raised their three children. One of Evelyne’s most cherished achievements was learning English and becoming a US citizen after three years of dedicated study. Evelyne was a stay-at-home mother during her children’s elementary years and is remembered for her superb cooking and devotion to her family. For thirty years she worked in her husband’s dental office, eventually becoming the office manager. Following their retirement, she began having health problems which eventually led to hospitals and life care centers. Evelyne actively volunteered and served in a variety of cultural and service organizations including Art guilds, Art in the Park, da Vinci Art Guild, Tuesday Musicale, St. Luke’s Hospital Candy Stripers, and Red Cross blood drives. She enjoyed skiing, bicycling, swimming, and bowling, as well as occasional travels to foreign countries including Germany and Czechoslovakia. She loved classical music and opera, and had season tickets for the Boise Philharmonic, Opera Idaho, BSU Chamber Music, Idaho Ballet, Broadway touring productions, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Sun Valley Summer Concerts, and Sun Valley Jazz Festival. She joined St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church shortly after it was established fifty years ago. She is survived by her husband, Val, son Mark (Jeanine) Valenti, daughter Jan (Jack) Thomas, son Ray (Debbie) Valenti, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother, and three sisters. The family would like to thank her care-givers for their love and compassionate help, and grateful thanks to all at St. Stephen’s Church including Father David Wettstein and John and Melanie LeBlanc. Evelyne has been cremated. Memorial services are planned for 2pm Friday, September 14, 2012 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 2206 N. Cole Road, Boise. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, to a charity of your choice, or plant a purple flower and/or feed a bird in her memory. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian. 888-5833.

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
