Michael was born October 26, 1960, in Nampa, Idaho, to Robert and Karen Nelson. Michael was their first born child and he fulfilled the role of “big” brother to Rob, Ann, and Jennifer. Michael grew up in the Meridian Area. He was active in the Meridian Junior Rifle Club where he achieved a firearms expert rating. Michael was active in the Meridian High School Marching Band, and graduated from Meridian High School in 1979. He married Cynthia Adkins on January 8, 1982. The couple was married for 14 years. Michael was never more at home than when he was in the mountains in his trusty pair of Whites hunting boots. He loved the Sawtooth Mountains and spent many hours hiking, fishing and camping in that region. He enjoyed spending time at his parents’ cabin in the Stanley Valley. When he wasn’t in the mountains, you could find him on a golf course. Michael always enjoyed a good cigar. Michael joined the Idaho Air National Guard in 1985. He served in many Campaigns to Iraq, Kuwait, Turkey and Afghanistan. Michael was promoted to the Rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Strategic Intelligence. He graduated from Boise State University in 1992, with a Bachelors in Accounting. In Mike’s professional life he worked as an Accountant, a Law Enforcement Planner and as a Criminal Justice chair for a higher education institute. He married Pamela Peterson September 7, 1996. In this marriage, he gained a stepson, Levi Hosey, who he was proud to call his son. He is survived by his wife Pamela and stepson Levi of Boise; parents Bob and Karen Nelson, of Meridian Idaho. He is also survived by three siblings, brother, Rob Nelson, of Cascade; sister Ann Wartman and husband Kraig, of Meridian; sister Jennifer Nelson and Lonny Niejadlik, of Boise. “Uncle Bubba” will be greatly missed by his two nephews, Nicholas Nelson and Kameron Wartman and one niece, Kayla Wartman and great nephew Aiden Nelson. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Michael’s name to the Ada County Veterans Court or the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

We Entrusted Michael Nelson's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
