Irene Tennent Irene O. Tennent of Springfield passed away January 19, 2016 at age 94. She was born April 28, 1921 to Ray and Ivy (Holloway) Wilson in McAlester, OK. She married Harold Tennent in McAlester, OK on December 31, 1939. He preceded her in death on August 6, 2001. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage. Irene worked for Woolworths and Alexander’s Department Store in Springfield as well as for Dr. Alan Marshall as a dental receptionist. She retired in 1982. Irene loved sports, especially her Oregon Duck Basketball team. She enjoyed knitting, walking, and exercise classes. She was a member of Norkenzie Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughters, Sue Scales and Kyle Tennent of Springfield; her sons, Richard Tennent of Salem, OR, and Tom (Gail) Tennent of Eugene; her 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her son Ray Tennent. A funeral service will be held at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, January 23 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Children Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to Springfield Memorial Funeral Home.
