Joan Harper Anderson
August 4th, 1931 - May 10th, 2021
Joan Anderson passed suddenly but peacefully on Mon, May 10, 2021, at the age of 89. Joan (pronounced JoAnn) began life in New Hampshire, the 2nd of four children to Edward and Ruth Harper. Her dad’s Army service took them to the Philippines where she graduated high school and learned to play golf, which she played into old age, even achieving four holes in one! When the family moved to France, a handsome, young Lieutenant stole the heart of his boss’s daughter, and Skinner “Andy” Anderson and Jo were married in 1954. Their 66 years of marriage adventures included moving numerous times in the Army, raising four children, and laughing a lot. Jo always looked on the bright side, had her family in church each week, and volunteered over the decades. She was smart, organized, and competent in everything she did. She was energetic, joyful, and even smiled in her final breaths. Joan is survived by her beloved Andy and her four children: Skinner “Skip” Anderson (Julie), James “Jim” Anderson (Cathy), Mary Wax (Joe), and Lori Ohms (Alan). She’s also survived by 13 loving grandchildren and 13 great-grands, who call her Nana, and by her siblings: Barbara Duval, Edward Harper, and Mary Lausten. Services will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church on Saturday, May 15th, rosary and visitation will begin at 9:30 AM followed by the celebration of the funeral mass at 10:00 AM. If you are unable to join in person please join the family virtually at https://www.facebook.com/holyapostles.church/. Services are under the care of Accent Funeral Home.

We Entrusted Joan Anderson's Care To
Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
