Gloria Darlene Nelson was born January 12, 1926, in Brady, Nebraska to David and Ethel Nelson. She was an only child and grew up on a farm outside of Gothenburg. After graduation, she moved to Denver, got a job, and met a handsome airman, Bill Wahlstrom. While they were dating they enjoyed picnics together and going to the big band dance halls where Gloria loved doing the jitterbug. They were married on May 17, 1946. One year later they had David, four years later they had Linda, and five years after that they had Lori. She was proud to be a military wife, willing to make the necessary sacrifices. Bill and Gloria lived all over the country, making the most of the adventures of moving. After Bill retired from the Air Force, they continued to move and travel. Gloria became a Christian in 1979 (as did Bill), and she was truly an example of Christ-likeness. To Gloria’s satisfaction, she and Bill settled down in Idaho in 2002, putting down roots after all those years! Although Gloria was faced with many health obstacles in her later years, she came out strong and without complaint. The true joys of her life were her marriage, her family, and her faith. Gloria was an amazing woman, admired by all who knew her; by her children, grandchildren, for her gentle, quiet, nurturing spirit. She was the perfect explanation of humble and kind. She delighted in simple pleasures; her first cup of coffee in the morning, a trip out for a goodie, or a hug from her loved ones! Those who knew Gloria for any amount of time loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband and life-long love, Bill, after 70 years of marriage. She is survived by her son, Dave; daughters: Linda (Larry), and Lori (Richard); grandchildren: Jeffrey, Tiffni, Anthony, Timothy, Jill, Heather, Nicole, and Jonathan; as well as 12 great-grandchildren.

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
