Maurice Balls

Maurice James Balls, 84, of Melba, died January 27, 2013 at home. He was born April 17, 1928 in Benson Ward, Utah to Denton Aziel and Margurite Gittens Balls. He grew up in Smithfield, Utah. Maurice proudly served in the United States Air Force for 10 years as a master mechanic. He married Florence Sharp on November 5, 1952. Together they had 6 children. Maurice was a talented and creative man. He was a mechanic that could fix or build anything and a talented artist. Many have enjoyed his beautiful leather work, wood carvings, metal sculptures and drawings. He enjoyed panning for gold, fishing, and camping. He always had the best garden in the valley. His skill and wisdom will be greatly missed. He is survived by sisters Jeanette Reece-Rollo of Ogden Utah and Marcella Ronk of Largo Florida, sisters in law Zona Balls of Utah and Ilean Balls of Kuna, children Jim Balls, Pam Keller, Steve Balls and Laura Howard, special kids Bobbie Jo Wiggins and Dennis Schmillen, eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, brothers DeVar and Quentin, sons Johnny and Doug and ex wife Florence. We would like to give special thanks to the Owyhee County sheriff and paramedics. Cremation was under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Caldwell. Private services will be held at a later date at the Idaho State Veteran’s Cemetery. Service Information
