Jack Sweet
October 28th, 1929 - June 22nd, 2012
Jack Sweet, 82, of Boise, formerly of Nampa, died on Friday, June 22, 2012 at a Boise care center of natural causes. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Nampa. Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Inurnment will be at Lower Boise Cemetery, in Parma. Jack was born on October 28, 1929 to George and Elsie (Search) Sweet Sr. in Caldwell, ID. He went to Wilder, Ten Davis and Notus schools, graduating in 1948 from Notus HS. Jack served in the US Air Force from 1949 – 1953 and was honorable discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Jack married Wanita Lucile Bartlett Griffith in 1954. Lucile had an eleven year old daughter, Beverly Annette, and together a son was born, James Martin. Jack worked for United Oil Co, Beckley Livestock Transportation and Caldwell Fire Dept. In 1957 he was accepted into the Idaho State Police reaching the rank of Lieutenant and retiring in 1984. Jack raised Appaloosa horses for 25 years. He was a member of Appaloosa Horse Club of America since 1968, and a life member of the Intermountain Appaloosa Horse Club. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Wanita in 1995, his parents, his daughter Beverly Annette Petty, his son, James Martin Sweet, two brothers: Monte Clifford Sweet, George R. Sweet Jr. and a Brother- in-law Edgar Halverson. He is survived by a Son- in-law Richard Petty, 3 Grandchildren, 3 Great- Grandchildren. His siblings: Virginia Halverson, Pearl (LaRell) Behunin, Donna (Louis) Sennick, Cheryl (Ronald) Ward, Bette (Don) Largent, sister-in-law Corrina Sweet and sister-in- law Lida Rae (Paul) Sweet Tiddens.
