Orval Baker Orval (Red) Dwight Baker passed away Sept 20, 2015. He was born February 13, 1935 in Gardner, Oregon to parents Orval & Vesta Baker. He lived in the Coos Bay area and spent his high school years in Coquille. While living in Coquille he met Naomi. They were married at Faith Lutheran Church in Coquille on May 13, 1961. God blessed their marriage with 3 children: Todd, Matthew, and Allison. Red and Naomi moved to Springfield in 1963 Red worked in construction operating heavy equipment until an accident at work. Some of the projects he worked on was building Fall Creek dam, Delta Hwy, and the freeway along the Columbia River. After his accident, he attended Lane Community College and received his associates degree in auto body and painting in 1971. Following graduation he went to work for Acme Auto Body. Later he was the painter for Ross Corporation where he spent the majority of his career. During his retirement, he work for La Mesa RV transporting motorhomes to different locations for shows. Red and Naomi volunteered in many fundraising and hands-on projects helping people. Volunteering was a large part of their life as they volunteered for many activities. Red and Naomi celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in May of 2011. He loved spending time with family, especially with his grandchildren Aaron & Ethan. Red enjoyed trips to Cabo with friends and was an avid Duck fan. Fall days would find him enjoying tailgating with friends and family at Autzen stadium and cheering for the Ducks. Red was preceded in death by his wife Naomi and parents Orval and Vesta Baker. He is survived by his children Todd (Tricia) Baker of Springfield, Matt Baker (Chris) of Portland, Allison Baker of Eugene, grandchildren Aaron and Ethan Baker, sisters Lillian Parker of Eugene, Orvetta Stockslager of Portland OR and a brother Sherman Baker in Eugene OR. There will be a Viewing Oct. 3, from 9-11:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church 710 E 17th in Eugene. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to LIFE! Lutheran School or Concordia Seminary, St Louis, (Albert & Marcella Loseke Endowment Fund) Arrangements entrusted to Lane Memorial Funeral Home.
