Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
Allen A. Briggs
December 19th, 1940 - November 6th, 2017
Allen A. Briggs Dec. 19, 1940 – Nov. 6, 2017 Allen was the second of four children born to Ted and Loretta Briggs. He was born in Gooding, ID, but spent his growing years in Nebraska, graduating from Garden County High School. He married Mabel Roberts, a fiery redhead, at age 18. After 40 years of marriage, Mabel passed away in 1999 after a long illness. In 2000 he met Barbara BeauChaine' and they married within 3 weeks of their first date! They agreed that when you reach a "certain age", you dare not waste any time! His trade was a super auto mechanic, who loved his work and being honest with everyone. Yes, an honest mechanic who never tried to sell you something you didn't need and was trusted by all he met. This reputation led to an offer from the Caldwell school board to a position to leave the garages and teach in their auto program, where he stayed for over 20 years. Retirement was spent enjoying travel in their motorhome and sitting on the front porch enjoying the hummingbirds and watching someone else mow the lawn. He loved his computer and enjoyed researching anything that sounded interesting, and playing video games. Allen is survived by his wife of nearly 18 years, Barbara; daughter Kathleen Hill (Gordon); son Michael Briggs; grandson Brandon Hill; granddaughter Bailey Briggs; step-daughters: Peggy Smith of Halsey, OR, Brenda Knick of Brownsville, OR, Janel Klepper of Pawnee City NE and Sara Kane (Shane) of Tipperary, lreland. He also leaves his 3 feline friends, Binky, Sissy and Scooter, who will miss him and look for him to come through the door every day. He is also survived by one brother, George Briggs (Janet) of Fruitland, ID and many nieces and nephews. Allen was preceded in death by his parents: Ted and Loretta; his wife Mabel; his brother Bill of Washington state; and his younger sister Mary of Northern Idaho. Cremation has taken place, and he wished no service of any kind. Please visit Allen’s online memorial at www.flahifffuneralchapel.com where you can leave an online condolence message for his family.
