William [Bill] H. Ensley, 92, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2009 at home because of mesothelioma cancer. Bill was born on March 12, 1917 in Ainsworth, Nebraska to John L. and Clara Keech Ensley and was the third of four children. He grew up and graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1937 where he enjoyed sports and played 4 years of basketball and 3 years of football. After graduation and being only 20 years old, he left for California in his 1929 Ford car to make his fortune. It was during the depression days and work was hard to find but he finally got a job for 30 cents an hour. He slept in his car until he had earned enough money for a room; a 10 cent hamburger tasted pretty good. Bill met his first wife, Marjorie Coddington in 1941 and of that union, two sons were born, Wayne and Dennis. The Military called Bill to active duty in 1943 where he served for two years. After working in the factory machines operations for 25 years in Los Angeles, California, Bill moved to Marsing, Idaho in 1974 and enjoyed living along the Snake River where he loved to fish and hunt and enjoy the view. Bill loved boating, fishing, hunting, gardening and enjoyed life in general. He was also a Real Estate Broker, had learned to pilot a plane, had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful father and grandfather. In 2004 Bill met Beverly Franks at Mercy Medical Center North and they formed a relationship. After a courtship of 6 months, they were married at Cherry Lane Christian Church in Meridian, Idaho. Bill is survived by his wife, Beverly, his two sons: Wayne, and companion, Yvonne, of Marsing, Idaho, Dennis and wife, Vickie of Auburn, California. His grandchildren, Randy Ensley of Cypress, California, Tim Ensley of Marsing, Idaho, Steven Ensley and Michael Ensley of Auburn, California, Debbie and husband, Jack Trumbull of Hood River, Oregon, great-grandsons Jake Ensley and Caleb Trumbull, great-granddaughters Lauren Trumbull and Brooklyn Ensley. Other survivors include a sister, Thelma Langer of Gettysburg, South Dakota and a brother, Everett and wife, Evelyn Ensley of Wilder, Idaho and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank Home Health Hospice for all the tender loving care that Bill received during the final days of his life. A viewing will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, October 23 and a celebration of life at 2 P.M. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell, Idaho at 624 Cleveland Blvd. A committal service will be at 10 A.M. on Saturday, October 24, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
