Ramon Lopez Martinez
March 18th, 1914 - August 20th, 2009
Ramon L. Martinez Sr., 95, of Greenleaf, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at home. A Rosary Vigil will be at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Caldwell. Interment will follow at the Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Ramon was born on March 18, 1914 in in Venado S.L.P. Mexico a son of Crispen and Margarita Lopez Martinez. He married Maria Rangel in Mexico in 1938. In the 1950's he came to the U.S. where he became a crew leader for many years. In the late 80's, Early 90's he worked for EnRose Farms & Golden Farms (Hops) where he suffered a serious accident which forced him to retire. He became a U. S. Citizen in 1981. He was a hard worker loved gardening, flowers and roses. He also made contributions to his Catholic Church. Ramon is survived by his children: LoLo (Shirley), Crispen, Ramon Jr. (Lydia), Antonio Jesus (Rachel), Jose Luis (Cherri) and Juanita Alcantar, 30 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Maria and daughter Victoria Marquez. The Family would like to give thanks to Dr. McConnell and West Valley Medical Center, Dr. Kerry Pulver at St. Alphonsus Cancer Center, Caldwell, and the Dr's and staff of 4-Rivers Hospice especially nurses Margaret and Holly for their compassion and respectful care during his battle with cancer.
