Margaret Alice King
December 27th, 1934 - March 16th, 2009
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Margaret Alice King, concluded her journey here on earth and began her eternal life in heaven on Monday, March 16th. Margaret was born in Earlimart, California on December 27, 1934 to Arthur and Olive Porter. She moved to Homedale, Idaho with her family in the winter of 1944 where she was raised and graduated from Homedale High School in 1952. Margaret married Ira "Bud" King in July following her graduation. They lived in Washington for a short time while he was in the service and they lived in Middleton for a small period, but the remaining time Margaret called Homedale her home. They started their family in 1957 and Margaret spent the rest of her life caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very loving, compassionate and cheerful person that could brighten the dimmest of rooms with her smile and she lived her life to its fullest. Margaret was an extremely hard worker, working on the farm and dairy as a child and later as an adult. However, the profession that she loved and became known for was bus driver for the Homedale School District and was even referred to as the "Grandma of Precious Cargo". She took great pride in her job and loved "her kids" on the bus and was a loyal fan of the athletic teams that she transported. Margaret had a vast love of the outdoors. She spent countless hours in her park-like yard caring for her beautiful flowers, bushes and berries. She also loved spending as much time as possible camping and fishing in the mountains, especially with family and friends. Margaret was greeted in heaven by her husband Ira "Bud" King, parents Arthur and Olive Porter, brother Gurdon "Sonny" Porter and grandson Gary Eastman. Margaret will watch over her remaining family; brother Leonard Porter and wife Deb, son Kenny King and wife Debbie, daughter Sharon Eastman and husband Hank, daughter Diana King and Matt Horsley, daughter Janice Biggins and husband Tom. Grandchildren, Brett and Bryan Eastman, Tyler, Rolida, Corey and Kylee King, Melissa and Matt McBride, Lora and Matt Ingram, Steven and Stacie Foote, Michaela and Elizabeth Biggins and Skyler Holtry, six special great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Mountain View Nazarene Church, Wilder, at 11:00am on Monday, March 23rd, facilitated by Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Homedale. If you wish to make contributions in Margaret's name, you can do so to the St. Alphonsus Cancer Center or the Homedale School District. Service Information
