Steve Louis Calzacorta, 53, of Caldwell, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at a Boise hospital of natural causes. Steve was born to Robert and Connie Calzacorta in Caldwell, Idaho on July 8, 1964. Steve was raised in Jordan Valley, Oregon, a small ranching community where he spent a lot of time on his Grandpa Calvin’s ranch. He truly enjoyed the ranching way of life. When he graduated high school he chose a career as a heavy equipment operator. He was very talented in this field much like his father, Robert. For fun he enjoyed fishing and going on 4-wheeler rides with his friends. He had a passion for cooking and never measured a thing but it always turned out. Well, let’s say most of the time because we do remember a few flops. He also loved getting together with family and traditional holiday dinners. Traditional for us anyway, in kind of a Basque and American mix. One thing he always commented on was his mother Connie’s meatballs. Steve loved his kids Joshua and Shelby more than they can imagine. He had a great smile and could light up the room with his laugh. You didn’t see that very often because he was a pretty quiet and private guy. I don’t think in 51 years I had a phone call with him that lasted over ten minutes; so if you did then consider yourself lucky and one of the few. One thing about Steve I found out at a very young age was if you were in a tight spot and you told him to give it hell, you better hang on tight because he sure did. Last, I must say he must have loved that old Chevy pickup because he put over 300,000 miles on it. He was a big man with a big heart. He was very charitable and always willing to help. Rest in peace, brother. He is survived by his parents, his children Shelby Calzacorta and Josh Calzacorta, and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell. Inurnment will follow at Jordan Valley Cemetery in Jordan Valley, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Kidney Fund.[6110 Executive Blvd Suite 1010 Rockville, MD 20852-9813] Condolences can be given at www.flahifffuneralchapel.com Donations may be made to: American Kidney Fund 6110 Executive Blvd Suite 1010, Rockville MD 20852
