November 17th, 1925 - April 5th, 2017
William “Bill” Edward Blythe was born November 17, 1925 to Aubrey and Etta Blythe in Plattsburg, MO. He was the middle child of seven. Always wanting to be the provider, Bill joined the Navy at age 16, to help his mother support their family after the death of his father. Early in his career, Bill met Frances at a bus stop in Washington, DC and it was love at first sight. They were married on April 18, 1948 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington, VA and started their journey and family together. In late 1949, Kenneth was born and a couple of years later, Patricia arrived on the scene, completing their family. Displaying his God-given strength and fortitude, Bill had the amazing opportunity to serve and defend his country as a deep-sea diver and an EOD technician. Bill traveled the world and served in WWII, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. His naval career encompassed 22 years before he retired as a 1st Class Petty Officer. Bill continued to provide for his family, using his Naval training, working for Sandia Corp in Albuq., NM and then at the Nevada Test Site. Upon retirement, he and Frances moved to Caldwell, ID. Bill was a God-fearing, fun-loving, hard-working man who was most comfortable in jeans, cowboy hat and boots. He loved to fish, work in his garden, and play his harmonica. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Bill met his Lord on April 5th, 2017. He was preceded in death by his siblings, his wife, and their son. He is survived by his daughter and her husband, his 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
