Ray Hicks Jr. Ray Hicks Jr. was born on July 17, 1921, and died on July 1, 2015 at the age of 93. He was born and raised in Eugene, attended Eugene Schools, and graduated from Eugene High School. In 1940 at the age of 20, he joined the Eugene Fire Department. His career was interrupted by World War II and he served for 3 years in Europe, building bridges and air fields for the Army Engineers. When he arrived back home, he went back to being a fireman, a job he really did well. He retired in 1979 as a Battalion chief and continued in construction for many years. In 1942 he married his sweetheart, Dorothy Rice. They were married for 73 years. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, a daughter Linda (Bill) of Portland and son James L Hicks (Tanya) of Eugene, 4 Grandchildren, 8 great grand-children and 6 Great great Grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Musgrove Family Mortuary at West Lawn Memorial Park 225 S Danebo Avenue in Eugene on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 1:00 pm.
