Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
Lloyd G. King
April 1st, 1939 - April 19th, 2016
In generosity, loyalty, compassion, and kindness, there was no one better than Lloyd Gilbert King. He was a father, grandfather, brother, and son, and many knew him as an incredible friend. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Lloyd spent his adolescence just outside of Alva before moving to Hartner, Kansas, where he met the love of his life, Margie. The two married and the couple proved to be a match made in heaven. Even 57 years later, Lloyd still never missed a moment, or a day, telling Margie how beautiful she was. The couple was blessed with four children. For Lloyd, life was all about fostering meaningful relationships, and there’s no doubt that the bonds he shared with his children and wife meant the world to him. Those relationships extended into Lloyd’s work life as well. An operational engineer by trade, his favorite job was at Bumble Bee Seafood in Bristol Bay, Alaska. He was well-liked among colleagues, known for being the guy who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. After retirement from Boise State University Lloyd and Margie purchased acreage near Wilder, Idaho, making a small paradise for themselves out in the country. Surrounded by the beauty and simple pleasures of the land, the two were active farmers, raising everything from cows and chickens to a bountiful garden. Their children and grandchildren never had to buy so much as a tomato plant or carton of eggs; Lloyd and Margie loved nothing more than to give what they had to the people they cared about most. Lloyd’s generosity, friendship, and devotion to his family will be what those who knew him remember most. He was a simple man who loved his wife, his home, and God. He gave a part of himself to every person he became acquainted with, and each person became a bit better for it. Lloyd Gilbert King passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 3:45 a.m. He was surrounded by and his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, an older brother, and his son, Lloyd Russell. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Margie, and their three children and their spouses: Jeffrey (and Vicky), Jill (and Larry), and Jason (and Stephanie). Graveside services will be led by Pastor Dave Fraley on Friday, April 22, 2016, 2 p.m. at Wilder Cemetery. Following the service will be a celebration of Lloyd’s life at his and Margie’s home in Wilder. Service Information
