Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
Raymond Ross Seiber
September 9th, 1917 - March 12th, 2018
Ray was born September 9, 1917 in Topaz, Missouri. At the age of two his family moved to Idaho where Ray grew up in Notus and McCall. In 1938 he married Helen McVey and moved to Bend, Oregon, where Ray worked for Brooks Scanlon Lumber Company. In December, 1941, soon after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Ray and his two brothers enlisted together in the armed services. Ray chose the Army Air Corps and received his pilot wings. He was a P-51 fighter pilot and trained other new pilots. After his military service in 1945, he moved to Caldwell, Idaho, and went to work for Garber Motors, and then started his own business, Ray’s Used Cars. He later earned a real estate license and worked in the Homedale and Wilder area. In 1973 he married Lucy Constantine and moved to a farm in Wilder. Ray enjoyed fishing and hunting with his father, his son, and his grandson. In his retirement woodworking became a hobby, and he made picnic tables for all of his great-grandchildren and for community donations. Ray left this message to his family. “I am reminded of one of my favorite hunting trips with my son and grandson. We climbed up the hill, the three of us going our different ways to meet at the top. To me this trip to heaven is going to be like that same trip, only I am going ahead and you can stay at the line camp a little longer. Don't hurry. Take your time, and we will meet at the top as usual. Dad —“The Silver Fox.” Ray began his ascent of the hill March 12, 2018, in Boise, Idaho, in the company of people who loved him. His family would like to especially thank the staff at Good Samaritan Center who cared for and gave affection to Ray for the last five years. His answer whenever he was asked how he was doing was, “If you can’t be in your own home, this is a pretty good place to be. They take really good care of me.” Ray is survived by his son, Roger (Carol) Seiber, his daughter Bobbie (Carter) McConnell, Grandchildren: Chad (Kristin) Riddle; Nikki (Jason) Pearl; Rob (Karri) Seiber; Shawna (Derek) Walz. Great Grandchildren, Ella and Ruben Pearl; Trinity and Jessica Seiber; Abby, Charlie and Kate Riddle; Devin and Drew Walz.
