Alan Everette Larsen

Alan Everette Larsen, 56, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell. Alan was born in Nampa, Idaho on Dec. 8, 1958. He was the last of five children born to Venet Dean (Parkins) Larsen and Everette Lyle Larsen. The family lived and farmed in Opaline until relocating to Marsing where Alan attended school. He graduated from Marsing High School in 1977, where he was a three-sport athlete. After high school he entered the Boise State University Voc-Tech program, completing programs in carpentry and auto mechanics. He became a life-long fan of the BSU Bronco Football program. He returned to Marsing where he ranched and farmed together in partnership with his father, as well as renting a number of farms in the Marsing area. In the early 90s he ran his own herd while working as truck driver, loader and equipment operator for a variety of harvests and construction projects. He was employed by Island Sand & Gravel of Nampa, Kent Brothers Transportation of Caldwell, Mike Gaviola of Marsing, and Connolly Construction of Eagle. He eventually liquidated his livestock and purchased his own semi truck and trailer outfit, driving as a long-haul owner/operator for a number of years. He was a well-respected equipment operator throughout the area. Alan was enjoying his current driving position at Nampa’s Ackerman Trucking at the time of his death. Growing up youngest in a family of seven, Alan always valued family. He had no children of his own, yet lovingly invested time and energy into his numerous nieces and nephews. As he traveled the country driving his truck he would stop and visit extended family when he could, often calling during his trips to keep in touch and relate stories of the road. Alan was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time in the Owyhee Mountains. He appreciated the community he lived in, the kindness of neighbors who shared food and friendship, the neighborhood children and local fishing buddies. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Everette and Venet and his sister Tina Larsen. He is survived by two sisters, Teri (Larry) Draper of Nampa, Lori (Jim) Pruss of Oak Harbor, WA and a brother, Dan (Melanie) Larsen of Port Orchard, WA. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews who will miss his ready smile and giving spirit. Remembrances can be made in Alan’s name to Idaho Youth Ranch. Service Information
