Pearl Leota Brewer, 89, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 23, 2015. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell. Pearl was born in Sunset, AZ, on February 2, 1926, to Archie E. and Blanch Jessee; the middle child, and the middle girl, of nine children. She spent her early childhood in Southern California. In the 1930’s her family moved to Elk Grove, CA where they lived and farmed. This is where Pearl met her lifelong sweetheart, Earle F. Brewer. She was 13 when they met. They were married May 11, 1946, when he returned from the Navy. From early childhood, Pearl chose to love the Lord Jesus with her whole heart, taking part in family prayer and Bible reading each evening, singing around the piano together, hearing her daddy pray earnestly for his children; these were part of everyday life for her. These are things that she and Earle adopted for their family; deeply devoted to God, to each other and their family. Pearl and Earle moved to Nampa, ID in 1947 with son Vernon. In 1951 the family, now joined by siblings Bonnie, Carol, and Cheryl, moved to Roseville, CA so Earle could support this growing family. The next 14 years involved many moves because of Earle’s employment. At some of these locations Pearl worked as a medical secretary and as a pastor’s wife where Earle served. In 1965, Earle and Pearl moved their family to Caldwell, ID to live on the homestead in Sand Hallow. What an adventure! Pearl loved the farm and took her turn feeding the cows, the sheep, and lambing in the middle of the night. She would then head to a full day of work at the office. She worked hard, and many times she fought hard for her life, as God brought her through the many surgeries that plagued her through the years. Pearl worked as a medical secretary at several places in California and in Idaho at Caldwell Memorial Hospital and The Eye Associates. She taught the Medical Secretary class at Caldwell Memorial Hospital for 7 years. From 1984 – 1987 she worked as the Medical Records Director at the Norton Sound Hospital in Nome, AK. She retired from there due to health issues and they moved back to the farm in Sand Hollow. Pearl was passionate about serving God and sharing His goodness with others. Her life was a testimony for those who were privileged to share life with her. She loved to recount all the ways God had been faithful. To everyone’s delight, Pearl played the piano; even when her eyes were patched for several months, her fingers found the keys. Old hymns were her favorite. She would listen to Gaither Homecoming music and rejoice in the Lord, whatever the occasion. Pearl loved reading passages of Scripture that she and Earle shared and were dear to them. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family. Pearl is survived by two brothers, Archie and Doris Jessee and Jim and Susan Jessee; two sisters, Irene Brewer and Alice & Merlin Hunter; her son, Vern and Anita Brewer; three daughters, Bonnie and Allen Emery, Carol and Sheldon Morgan and Cheryl and Neil Colby; beloved granddaughter, Lori Colby and eight cherished grandsons and their wives, Rodney and Sarah Emery, Joshua and Yadira Colby, Travis and Kaycee Emery, Todd and Brandy Morgan, Casey and Aimée Brewer, Nolan and Lyndsay Brewer, Tyler and Whitney Morgan and Keith and Kim Brewer. Oh, how Pearl loved her precious great grandchildren, Hailey, Alyssa, Faith, Joshua, Thomas, Kendall, Henry, Thomas, Addison, Miles, Jace, Xander, Lucah, Nyah and Warren. Pearl was preceded in death by the love of her life, Earle, her parents, two brothers and two sisters, two nieces and two nephews. We must mention the beautiful people of Kindred Nursing and Rehab in Nampa. Thank you for taking such good care of Pearl, for loving her as if she were your own mama. For those who lived with Pearl, she loved you and cherished your friendship, your times around the piano and in the other activities of the day. She would state how happy and blessed she was to live there and to be cared for by such wonderful people. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Pearl’s name to the Middleton Church of the Nazarene at PO Box 219, Middleton, ID 83644. Service Information
