Barbara Huff

Barbara Huff Barb Huff, 52-year resident of Springfield, passed away peacefully at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center late Monday. She succumbed to complications arising from a 10-year battle with multiple sclerosis. Barb was born to Delores and Theodore Simpson in Cottage Grove. After moving to Springfield, she graduated from Thurston High School in 1965. She then graduated from A Arts (Springfield) College of Beauty and worked as a hairdresser for over 20 years. She also took classes at Lane Community and Trend Colleges and worked in sales for more than 12 years. Barb is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bennett, and their 2 sons, Aaron and Jason. Her sisters Beverly, Janet and Carol also survive her. Her brother Ron previously passed away. She also has several nieces and nephews with children. She knew the great joy of helping to raise her grandchildren, Caitlin and Brennan, and endured to see a third born, Wesley. She always loved children, and with sister Bev and their husbands, opened a store for children’s clothing in Eugene. She also enjoyed paper crafts and later worked in sales for a stationary store. Her husband Bennett lovingly cared for Barb during her long debilitating battle with multiple sclerosis. Everyone who met her was refreshed by her good nature – she had the remarkable ability of not speaking poorly of anyone. In progression of her illness she exhibited great strength of character, never complaining about the discomfort and pain she experienced. It was her hope that in the future others not suffer any such illness. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 with viewing from noon and personal remembrances at 1:30 at the Top Chapel of Springfield Memorial Gardens, 7305 Main St. Contributions in her memory can be made to Race to Erase MS (http://www.erasems.org/tribute/).
