Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
Jim "James" McMillan
February 25th, 1928 - February 19th, 2018
“Pastor Jim”, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 19, 2018. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on a cold wintery night in Park Rapids, Minnesota in 1928. He attended Wessington Springs College where he met the love of his life, Lois Patton and they were married in August 1948. He taught school for four years and later felt called to go into the Ministry. He was a minister at the Bemidji (Minnesota) Free Methodist Church for 7 years before being asked to serve at the Deer Flat Church in 1963. During the 16.5 years he served as pastor, the Church went through 3 building projects to keep up with the continual growing congregation. Jim took three years from the Ministry for health reasons, but resumed serving Free Methodist Churches at Caldwell, Chewelah, Washington and Pendleton, Oregon. He also served as Superintendent of the Free Methodist conference until he retired in 1994 and returned to the Boise Valley to be closer to his children. Jim loved people and had a fun sense of humor until his final days. He enjoyed joking and laughing with people, and found great pleasure when others joked back at him. Jim loved to give gifts just to see a smile on a face, and was always helping people in need. He had a wonderful gift of helping people find peace in a tough situation. He was also very skilled with his hands and made beautiful wood projects that surrounded his home, and many other homes in the Treasure Valley. Jim was also heavily involved in construction projects at the Deer Flat Church and Caldwell Free Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving, caring, and devoted wife of 69 years, Lois McMillan; his children, Jim McMillan, and Patti (Mel) Campbell; 4 grandchildren: James (Rebekah) McMillan, Charity (Daniel) Buckley, Casey (Christine) Campbell; Kelly (Lauren) Campbell and 7 great- grandchildren. The family would like to thank Heart and Home Hospice for the wonderful caring help. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Deer Flat Church. A viewing will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday morning at the Deer Flat Free Methodist Church at 10:30 AM, February 23, 2018.
