Thomas (Tom) Gene Carter, also known as Bompa, 87, of Caldwell, passed away at home of natural causes on Saturday, November 15, 2014 with his son , Clif at his side. Home is right where he wanted to be. Tom was born to Mitchell and Virgie (Tidwell) Carter, in Fruitland, ID on September 23, 1927. Tom served in the United States Army in 1946 and became a Buck Sergeant. He was also the Chief of the Sherriff’s Posse for many years. He married the love of his life, Majorie Ann Olson and together they built a life of successes. They had 3 children; Sandra Harshman, Terri Timmons and Thomas Clif Carter. Tom was a businessman most of his life starting with his careers at V.S.C. and I.C.P. followed by owning and operating Mr. C’s Carpet Center for many years in Caldwell. Tom also owned several car lots throughout the years and was very successful at that as well. He also served as president on the Caldwell Night Rodeo Board, a job which he enjoyed. Tom and Marge moved to Garden Valley and became major stockholders in Terrace Lakes. Tom served as the President of Operations there for a time. There are many lovely memories shared by his friends, children and especially his grandchildren, of their time there together. After moving to Ontario, OR, Tom and his son, Thomas Clif started two car lots together. They made a great team and enjoyed working together, spending many hours traveling to car auctions. Tom spent the last two years of his life under the care of Thomas Clif, at his home in Caldwell. Tom deeply appreciated all of the visitors who came by to see him on a regular basis after becoming housebound. The family would like to give special thanks to Marta, for being a great caregiver to Tom. Tom will be dearly missed by his grandchildren who have had so much fun growing up with their Nannie and Bompa in Terrace Lakes. Tom is survived by his children; Sandra (Bill) Harshman and Thomas Clif Carter; grandchildren, Jennie Timmons, Jason Timmons, Lisa (Scott) Wardell and Rochelle Moore. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, aunts, nieces, nephews and many close friends. He is preceded in death by the love of his life and wife, Marjorie Ann Carter; his parents; a brother; two sisters; his daughter, Terri Timmons and great-great-grandson, Isaac Timmons. A Viewing for Tom will be held Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 3:00-6:00PM at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 24, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Burial will follow at the Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell with Elk’s Lodge Ceremonies.
