Edward E Mower

Edward E. Mower, 96, of Nampa, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at home of natural causes. Edward was born to Horace H. and Luella Mower on May 1, 1918 in Olympia WA. His father worked in the ship yards in Olympia, and being former residents of Middleton, they returned to the Caldwell area after WWI when Edward was 18 months old. He started school in the Enrose District of Notus and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1936. He joined the Caldwell National Guard in 1940 while it was still a Cavalry Unit. They were later mobilized and along with many other units, sent to Warren, WY. In 1942, while stationed at Fort Lewis, WA, he and Euphora Soper were married in Marysville, WA. Edward served as a radio operator in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge, under Gen. Patton. He was a member of the HDQ Battery 183rd Field Artillery Group. He received an honorable discharge in 1945 and returned to Caldwell and moved to Klamath Falls, OR where he attended Oregon Tech and graduated as a refrigeration technician. Their daughter, Cynthia was born and in 1951 they returned to the Nampa area. Edward started working at Home Dairies and later their son Kirk was born. Ed retired in 1976. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, and gained many square and round dance friends. Ed is survived by his wife, Euphora (Forsie), daughter, Cynthia (Ed) Schmierer, all of Nampa; a son, Kirk (Marilyn) Mower of Caldwell, 4 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held for Edward on Friday July 11, 2014 at 10:00AM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell, ID. [15682 Indiana Ave] In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the American Cancer Society for research or to St. Alphonsus Home Health and Hospice.
