Eugene DeWitt
October 16th, 1924 - June 25th, 2014
Eugene "Geno" DeWitt, 89, of Caldwell, ID passed away on June 25, 2014. Gene was born October 16, 1924, in Lincoln Nebraska, to Alice and Ralph DeWitt, as the youngest child, his older sister, Violet. His family moved to Idaho as a young boy. Gene enlisted in the US Navy in 1943. He met and married Wilda Compton on April 7th, 1943. He was shipped overseas during World War II. He served in the US Navy Reserves for five years, after the war, and then served in the US Coast Guard for another three years. After serving our country, he went to work for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. They had three daughters: Sharon, Pam and Candy. Gene retired from the telephone company, and went to work for Crookham's as a night watchman. Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors. He gave back to the community by coaching youth bowling. He loved coaching the kids. He also handpicked corn and delivered to various businesses and friends in Caldwell. Gene is survived by his daughters: Sharon (Donald) DeMond . Pamela Eisfeldt, and Candy DeBoard. Grandchildren: Michelle Hutson, Todd (Dawn) Floyd, Marnie (Dennis) Childers, Brock (Kay Lynn) DeBoard, and Amanda (Nick) Puckett. Great grandchildren: Andrea Dicello, Brayden DeBoard, Ryan, Reece and Jett Floyd, Naomi, Cadence, and Nathanael Childers, Taven and Kylee Puckett. Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wilda, of sixty nine years of marriage, their baby girl, Kathy, his sister, Violet. Through our sadness and tears, the joy we feel in knowing that Mom was there to meet Daddy is knowing they are together, again. Rest in peace, we love you both. A special thanks to Autumn Winds in Caldwell, for all of their outstanding care and love. To Janet Young at Heart and Home Hospice, our friend and nurse for Dad. Thanks, Wendy Facknan, you have become like family. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, July 1st, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise.
