Our Mom, Catherine, was born in Caldwell, Idaho on October 27, 1925 to Monroe and Ada (Maus) Dille and passed away March 2, 2014 at a local care center of natural causes. She grew up in rural Caldwell on a small farm with two older brothers. She went to school at Marble Front and later to Caldwell High School, often walking or biking the 5 miles. She loved school and reading books. She married James L. Muller on June 10, 1943 in Caldwell. During their 41 years together, they had seven children. She embraced the life of being a wife and mother, participating in her children’s activities, but also following her own interests. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, oral history, and church functions. Mom was a member of Deer Flat Free Methodist Church and loved the women’s missionary fellowship meetings as well as the many friends she made through the church. Mom worked at the Canyon County Fair for many years, either as a Superintendent of the Horticulture or Needlework divisions. She was Master Flower Show Judge for over 30 years judging at various shows in Southwest Idaho. She loved the art of hand quilting and created many treasured quilts for family members and friends, as well as for charity auctions. She chose marriage and motherhood over attending the College of Idaho on the full scholarship offered to her upon graduating high school. Later on, Mom was excited to be able to take college classes at the C of I during the 1960’s and 70’s. Her love of books continued throughout her life. She worked at the Carnegie Library during high school and enjoyed many years of helping organize book sales with the Friends of the Library. Mom was preceded in death by her husband, her son Jimmy, her son–in-law James West, and two older brothers. She is survived by her daughters: Kathleen West of Milford, CA, Joyce (Joe) Caywood of Tendoy, ID, and Jeanne Muller, Cheryl (Bob) Huizinga, Theresa (Mark) Araquistain, and Chrissy (Greg) Wilcox all of Caldwell. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are asked to gather for graveside services at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho on Friday, March 7 at 3:00 pm. The Family wishes to thank Canyon West Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care Mom received there during her last days. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Friends of the Library, 1010 Dearborn St. Caldwell, ID 83605, Canyon County Pet Haven, PO Box 481, Nampa ID 83653, or your favorite charity.
