Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Homedale
Weneda "Wendy" Joyce Landa
October 3rd, 1936 - April 8th, 2021
Weneda “Wendy” Landa passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on April 8, 2021. She was born on October 3, 1936 in Casper, Wyoming to Roy and Ruby Rowland. Her family moved throughout the Northwest and settled in Homedale when she was in the 6th grade. Wendy graduated from Homedale High School in 1954 where she met the love of her life, Julian Landa. They married on Valentine’s Day in 1957 in Las Vegas, Nevada and had three sons: Dan, Larry, and Chris. They made their three boys the center of life in Homedale, where they owned and operated their family farm, which is still in operation today. Weneda was the boss of the house and loved being involved in the farming operation, not hesitating to provide input when she thought it was needed. She was a wonderful cook; everyone loved her big farm lunches and special meals during the holidays. If you were an Ag salesman in the Treasure Valley, there is a good chance you enjoyed sitting out on the family’s deck - first doing business, then telling stories and enjoying a cold one with Julio and Wendy. Weneda was very active in the community, taking part in helping with the Homedale Smorgasbord, many Trojan games, school fundraisers and community events. You would often hear her in the gym rooting on her kids and grandkids; there wasn’t a referee in the valley that didn’t know her. She unconditionally spoiled her family with gifts, love and attention and always made sure they knew. Her favorite day of the week was the infamous “hair day” with her friend, Sandy Hinton, and ladies from Magic Mirror in Caldwell. She also loved her trips and shopping outings with her sisters, Jo and Bunny, who were her life-long best friends. Weneda relished traveling as her and Julian enjoyed their vacations south with cousins and great friends to visit Arizona, Mexico, Hawaii and other fun locations. A rabid Boise State Bronco fan, she was able to travel to many games and enjoyed tailgating at Bronco Stadium with friends and strangers alike. Weneda is preceded in death by her mother and father, Roy and Ruby Rowland; brothers, Danny and Frank Rowland; sister, Joean Wheeler; and grandson, Conner Landa. She is survived by her husband, Julian; sister, Evelyn “Bunny” (John) Combs; brother, Glen Rowland; sister-in-law, Violet Uria Fries; sons: Dan (Vicky), Larry (Korene) and Chris (Virginia); grandchildren: Ryan (Katie), Jacquelin (Steve), Danielle (Chris), Taylor (Heather), Matt (Amaya), Reece (Hailey), and Kyler; seven great grandchildren; and many loved nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 16th from 11:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 27 E. Owyhee Avenue in Homedale with a graveside service to follow at the Marsing-Homedale Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. A reception will be held after the graveside services at Txoko Ona Basque Center, 333 S. Main Street in Homedale at 2:30 P.M. The family would like to thank DaVita Kidney Care in Ontario and Fruitland, and Dr. Michael Adcox from Idaho Nephrology Associates for the constant and loving care of our mom and grandma. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Txoko Ona Basque Center in Homedale or a charity of your choosing. Condolences may be left at www.flahifffuneralchapel.com.
