Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel - Payette
Ronald Ray Collingwood
January 9th, 1939 - January 5th, 2021
Ronald Ray Collingwood passed away on January 5, 2021 after a sudden illness. As a young man Ron loved and enjoyed nature, enjoying the Payette and Snake rivers, and knowing every inch of the Owyhee Reservoir. Ron was a member of Payette school sports as a driving force behind local baseball and football teams, demonstrating a tenacity that came to define his life. Ron then took his resolve to honorably serve America in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the U.S.S. Hancock, after which he returned to his native Payette community to help his stepfather Mac McCrea with a project that became his 45 year commitment to a family business, McCrea Heating and Plumbing, along with his brothers Dick and Mike. Many Idahoan's within Payette, Washington, and Canyon Counties know Ron as a mentor, passing on Idaho's cowboy conservationist values to future generations of fishermen and hunters, as well as a teacher, critical to the development of the plumbing professionals left to service our communities. Ron lived an honorable life with no regrets, except maybe for having tried broccoli once. Ron will be remembered as both a lover of nature, and a force of nature, always ready to meet the requirements of the day with determination and conviction. Most members of the Payette community knew and respected Ron with the exception of local bass, geese, turkeys, deer, and elk, who all wanted to place a bounty on his head. Ron's wit was as fast as his boat "The Silver Bullet" which he chased local fish with, in many local bass tournaments and his mischievous smile was as big as the sky above him. Ron will be dearly missed, and is survived by his wife of 40 years, Roxanne Collingwood and children Timothy (Sharron) Collingwood, Kathy DeCroo, Thomas (Sheila) Collingwood, Sam Henslee, Keith (Cathy) Allen, Paul (Sherry) Allen, and LaVonne (Marc) Saracho, as well as many grandchildren. Many grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Ron is also survived by his sister Carol (Jerry) Donoho, brothers Michael (Marilyn) McCrea, Daniel (Verna) Collingwood, Karen (Bruce) Sackron, and Connie Ireland. Ron is preceded in death by his parents and his brother and wife Richard (Wanda) Collingwood. Service Details.
