Jewel Mae Bayes
December 8th, 1927 - August 27th, 2020
Jewel Mae (Dixon) Bayes, age 92, of Vale passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center - Ontario. She was born December 8, 1927 in Nashville, Howard County, Arkansas, the daughter of Rufus Hilry "Hill" Dixon and Ola (McBay) Dixon. Jewel was a homemaker, the wife of a hard rock miner, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She helped raise six sons, worked 10 years for Ore-Ida Food in Ontario and was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved her family very much. She is survived by her six sons and their spouses, Rick and Linda Bayes of Blue River Oregon, Harlen and Chris Bayes of Topeka Kansas, Paul and Sherry Bayes of Philipsburg Montana, Donald and Karen Bayes of New Pine Oregon, Robert and Donell Bayes of Fruitland Idaho, and William and Traci Bayes of Vale Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Dixon of Mountain Home Idaho and Bernice Dixon of Wilder Idaho; 26 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Jewel is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Paul Melvin "Chuck" Bayes, who passed away in 1999; her five brothers, Wintford Dale "Wint" Dixon, Rayford Dale Dixon, Wondel Lavell Dixon, Bobby Gene Dixon and Borden Dixon; her sister, Faye Dixon Laws; sisters-in-law, Frances Bayes Shepp and Loreen Watson; and brother-in-law, Jim Bayes.
