On the evening of December 5th, 2019 our most beloved Susan Diane Griffin was welcomed into the arms of the Lord. Sue was born to Ivan and Maurine Getman on September 24th, 1946 in Boulder Colorado. They went on to add Kathy, Gary, and Randy to their family and moved to Ontario in 1962. Sue graduated from Ontario High in 1964 and married her high school sweetheart, Sam Llona. They started a family together, welcoming Robin, Andrea, and David. Sam passed in September 1973 and later, Sue and her children blended into a wonderful big family when she married Gerry Griffin in September 1975. The Griffin bunch consisted of Robin, Leena, Andrea, Angie, Tag, and David. Sue had her hands full with their big family but still found time to handle the accounting for their business, Ernie's Electric. David, Sue's youngest, died from complications of Cystic Fibrosis in November of 1976. Sue and Gerry opened their home to many foster children over the years. They added to their family when Chad was born in 1979 and again when Richard was adopted in 1990. She was an integral part of Children's Ministry at Ontario First Church of the Nazarene. She loved children and taught Sunday School for many years. She and Gerry received a Distinguished Service Award for 25 years of service to the Church several years ago. Together they have 16 grandchildren and 14 and counting great grandchildren who will sorely miss her antics. Robin and Tim Davis have Samanatha who married Trevor Wallace, has Oakley and Olive; Leena and Jon Gilman have Levi who married Meredith, have JuliOnna, Asrey, and Zaya; Justin and Andrea Gilman have Romey and Braxtyn; Andrea and Larry Olson have Mia Guadagno who is attending Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. Angie and Jeff Roth have Devon Roth and life partner Emily and have Maximus, Oden, and Fenrix. Tag and Tera Griffin have Taylor who married Gabe Ward, and Tanner attending Northwest Nazarene University. Richard and Vicki Griffin have Mitchell, Madison (expecting a boy in January), Mason and Morgan. Chad and Veronica Griffin have Kayla Ortiz who has Jose, Emilio, Manuel; Audrey and Reyna. Sue was a great prankster, from church to home, no one was off limits! Be sure and listen for stories about Trick-or-treating as an adult, first time she met Tim Davis, eldest son in law, cat crap, peanut butter and shoe polish poo, and many more. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Randy and Gary Getman, son David, and grandson Ryan Roth. Her family will be celebrating her life and would love friends to come and share special Sue stories on Saturday, December 14th at Ontario First Church of the Nazarene at 2 pm. Donations can be made in her name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at https://www.cff.org/give-today/ or to Compassion for Kids at https://www.compassion.com/ways-to-donate.htm. Susan Diane Griffin will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Service Details.
