Ronald Vernon Jennings
June 20th, 1934 - July 21st, 2018
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday July 30, 2018 at the Highway Assembly of God Church, 100 Whitley Drive, Fruitland, ID. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. A viewing will be Sunday July 29, 4-7, pm at Shaffer-Jensen memory Chapel, 112 N.9th St. Payette. Condolences may be made to Ronald's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland. He was born June 20, 1934 to Wesley and Mildred Jennings of Palmer, Nebraska. He had two sister's Linda, Gwenneth and younger brother Dave. They moved to Idaho in 1952 to continue farming. Ron always wanted to be a Navy man and enlisted in May of 1952. His decorated career spanned 26 years. He traveled the US and abroad. He served as an engineer, auto mechanic, and was a competitive boxer. His true passion was recruiting which he did until he retired in 1979 as an E8 / Master Chief. On one tour in Newfoundland Canada, he would meet his soulmate Mary Pye a 22 year old sassy redhead, it was love at first sight. Their first date was on St Patrick's Day, he proposed 3 weeks later and they were married June 20, 1959. They lived a happy loving full life together for 60 years. Rumor has it there was actually trout fishing on their honeymoon weekend! As a military family with 3 children (Tim, Terry and Rhonda) they moved frequently living in Canada, Idaho, South Carolina, Arizona, retiring in Idaho in 1979. After retirement they travelled, cruised, went fishing, camping. 4 wheeling, started a used car lot, collected and sold antiques, wintered in Arizona for 30+ years. He leaves behind his wife Mary Jennings; children, Terry (Julie) Jennings and Rhonda (Sid) Wells; brother, Dave (Jeanne) Jennings; sister in law Joan Sommers; many cousins, nieces and nephews, 5 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Ron is preceded in death by his father, mother, sisters Gwenneth and Linda, son Tim and many other special Aunts Uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Parkinson Research or the charity of one's choice in care of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel P.O. Box 730 Payette, Idaho 83661.Ronald Vernon. Jennings, age 84, left this earth peacefully in his sleep to be with his Heavenly Father July 21, 2018. He fought a hard 10 year battle against Parkinson's. Service Details.
