Arrangements and services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Miles Riley Webster was born on February 25, 1925, in Garden Grove, Iowa to Wayne Glasco Webster and Edith Opal (Johnson) Webster. He was the oldest of five sons which included Myron, Lester, Victor and Homer (Tyke). On October 23, 1948, he married Elenora Schlagel, and they had two daughters, Sharleen and Diane. In 1943, Riley enlisted in the navy as a seaman second class and was honorably discharged as shipfitter 3rd class in the artificer branch in 1946. He served on the ship U.S.S. Megrez, a supply ship during World War II. He said the reason he joined the navy was so he didn't have to walk. Riley worked as a body and fender mechanic at Hanigan's Chevrolet in Payette, then Cable Chevrolet, Matthews Chevrolet and Ady Chevrolet all in Ontario where he finally retired. Riley also worked at home on his personal car projects. His passion was restoring old cars - at one time cutting a 1953 4-door Cadillac in half and making it into a 2-door sedan. When Riley could no longer work on full-sized cars, he set his talents to restoring pedal cars, often manufacturing parts himself. Riley is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his four brothers. He is survived by his two daughters, Sharleen Webster of Ontario, OR and Diane Webster of Delta, CO, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides cars his hobbies were The Crankers Car Club, fishing, hunting, collecting and driving the countryside. Service Details.
