Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel - Payette
Robert Henry Belvoir
March 2nd, 1923 - December 2nd, 2011
Robert Henry "Bob" Belvoir, 88, peacefully left this earth on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 at his home. He was surrounded by family members in his last hours. A service celebrating Bob's life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 9th at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel in Payette, with burial following at Rosedale Memorial Gardens. A public viewing will take place from 9 - 11 a.m. preceding the service. Condolences may be made to Bob's family at www.shafer-jensenchapel.com. Bob was born on March 2, 1923, to Clarence and Verda Belvoir, in Colony, KS, where he was raised and educated. During high school he met the "love of his life," Evelyn Mae Gregg, whom he married on May 4, 1941. Shortly afterward, they moved to Payette, where his first son, Clarence, was born. To support his family, they traveled to California to work in the shipyards, returning to Kansas in 1942, where Janet and, later, Howard were born. When a tornado destroyed much of their property in 1945, they moved back to Payette to have three more boys, Gary, Bob, and Don, and raise their family. As a young man, Bob worked for M.C. Shelley on his Washoe ranch, where began his passion for caring and owning thoroughbred race horses. He gained employment with Evans Motors, and soon began selling cars, where he earned his trademark nickname "Fairly Honest Bob." He continued selling cars for nearly 40 years at Marster's Motors and White Motors. Many people would never buy a car from anyone else. When he retired, he spent each morning downtown with friends and his summers gardening and having yard sales (the best in town). Bob knew nearly everyone in Payette, and if he didn't know them, he would say he did. He had many dear friends, especially Herbie Daudt. The person Bob loved and cherished the most was his wife Evelyn. Together they enjoyed trips to Seattle to watch their horses' race and spoiling their grandchildren. They were married for 68 years, living together in their home until her passing Dec. 16, 2009. Bob then remained at home through several illnesses where Janet and his granddaughter, Patti Miller, provided constant care and support. Bob is survived by his daughter Janet (Mel, deceased) Miller, Payette; sons Howard Belvoir, Kent, WA; Bob (Karla) Belvoir, Payette; Gary (Mary) Belvoir, Eagle, ID; Don (Liz) Belvoir, Payette; daughter in-law Carol Belvoir, Enumclaw, WA; grandchildren Duane, Kelly, Patti Miller, Jeff Miller, Heath, Van, Clay, Chad, Justin, Cory, Casey, Chelsea, and Chandra. He is also survived by his brother Maynard; 18 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson; many nieces and nephews, and a very close cousin Weldon (Wilma) Goodale. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Howard, his sisters Pauline, Madge, and Ina Mae, son Clarence, and his wife Evelyn. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the Heart n Home Hospice and Shay Kehrer, for their compassionate care of our father. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Payette Senior Center in his name, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID. Service Details.
